Just as you would seek advice from a mechanic if you were buying a car, the same applies when purchasing a diamond ring. The best way to buy a Diamond Ring is to actually buy a loose Diamond and from there have the ring made. This way you can see that the Diamond is what it is and that the claws and bezels (metal settings around the diamond) aren’t hiding any imperfections.
We only use reputable wholesalers in Australia and overseas who are members of the “Kimberley Process” (Conflict Free Guaranteed). Rest assured, we do not sell “Blood Diamonds”.

Know a little about the 4 C's so you understand what is being explained to you.
- Cut - The most important of all the C's.
This refers to the workmanship (or make) of how the diamond is cut, not the shape of the diamond. Eighty five percent of the diamond's brilliance comes from how it is cut, polished and shaped to give it premium brilliance.
- Colour - Graded from D (whitest) downwards to Z (darkest).
The alphabet colour is categorised as follows: D - F is classified as colourless, G - J is near colourless, K - M is faint yellow/brown, N - R is very light yellow/brown, S - Z is light yellow/brown. The whiter the diamond, the rarer it is and therefore attracts a higher premium.
- Clarity - The number of blemishes (external imperfections) and inclusions (internal imperfections) found in the diamond.
- FL - Flawless
- IF - Internally flawless, minor surface blemishes
- VVS1 - VVS2 - Very, very small inclusions
- VS1 - VS2 - Very small inclusions
- SI1 - SI2 - Small inclusions
- P1, P2, P3 or I1, I2, I3 - Eye visible inclusions
- The P (Piquet) grade is sometimes referred to as I (Imperfect) in some grading scales.
As an example, a SI1 or SI2 grade diamond has inclusions no larger than a grain of salt when viewed under a 10X magnification and therefore cannot be seen with the naked eye.
- Carat - The size (weight) of the diamond.
A carat = 1/5th of a gram or 200 milligrams.
- Gold fluctuates in price. In July 2010 gold was at an all time high (AU$1300 - $1450/oz)
- Diamonds and Gold are priced in US dollars (so when our dollar is high the buying is good but if it is down buying is tough)
- Just like a new car, it needs to be insured! Yes, it is just in case, but imagine if it is lost or stolen & you can’t afford to replace it? Devastating!
- Getting something custom made that is excellent quality is the better option.
- An Excellent/Very Good Cut, High Colour (F – G), Good Clarity (SI2) is where to aim.
- It is completely safe to buy a non-certified diamond through us because we grade/verify them prior to viewing. Non-Certified diamonds are cheaper than Certified Diamonds and are definitely worth a look.
- If you run around from store to store trying to get a better deal remember that each supplier has a limited amount of stock so the first store you call will normally get the best pick from each supplier.
- The best deal is fantastic but what will you sacrifice? Quality more likely than not, don’t skimp on this.
- Do it right the first time! Put the effort in now and you will reap the rewards!
